Craig Alexander, Partner & Chief Economist at Deloitte Canada, shares his thoughts on why early childhood education should be included in the Throne Speech.
Excerpt: "The scientific literature is clear – brain development starts at birth and a lot of important development occurs before the start of the primary education system. Thus, receiving early education can be fundamental to success in all phases of life which I feel is the foundation of skills development and social mobility. Moreover, there is strong evidence that children that experience curriculum-based ECE programs delivered by a trained educator have better behavioural and interpersonal skills, again giving them an advantage on educational performance, the workforce and in life, generally."
