The Atkinson Centre is sharing innovative approaches to early learning and child care in Canada. This extensive review of Canadian research is organized into an "ELCC Innovation ToolKit" identifying the types of innovation and the existing Canadian evidence that supports it.
The ELCC Innovation ToolKit identifies innovations in the following areas: ELCC governance; funding; inclusion and equitable access; the learning environment including curriculum, program supports, transitions to kindergarten and parent engagement; the workforce including educator training, professional development, compensation and recognition; and monitoring and accountability.
The ELCC Innovation ToolKit is a working collection that will be added to as new research become available.
This initiative is a partnership of the University of Toronto/Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and the School of Early Childhood at George Brown College and was funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Social Development Partnerships Program.
